Having it all today means something different than it did many years ago. In the past women were focused on the right to vote, education and being equal.

Today “having it all” means finding a healthy balance in your career and motherhood.

Women who “have it all’ have found a rhythm in their life that didn’t happen by chance. They’ve made a conscious decision to find a balance that works for them.

What does it mean to you to “have it all”

You need to define success for you. Having it all means different things for different people. You may need to be creative with your career and think outside the box.

It’s important you have a job you like.

For you, that may mean being a full-time stay at home mom. Or you may enjoy working full time or finding a balance between the two, working part-time or from home.

Having a work-life balance doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have both every day. That may very well be your to have it all as a woman p

Invest time in what matters most

Prioritize what and where you invest time and energy. What matters most to you? It’s easy to spend the day multitasking, distracted and doing everything for everyone else.

If you find yourself saying “I don’t have the time” either make time or realize that it’s not a priority for you right now.

Stay organized by scheduling the things that are important to you. Make sure they make it into your day.

Make time for yourself

Self-care and your well-being should be high on your list of priorities. As a mother taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do.

Aside from setting a good example for your kids, you’ll be more productive, rejuvenated and in a better place.

Whether that means going to yoga, time with friends or getting a manicure you need to make time and make it happen. It’s important to invest in yourself so you can invest in your kids.

Set boundaries

In order to have it all, you’ll need to learn to say no. Don’t overextend yourself by trying to do everything.

Learn to delegate. If you’re a control freak like me you’re going to have to loosen the reins a bit. Hire people to do the things you don’t enjoy or have the time for.

Just because you have it all doesn’t mean you have to do it all.

Stay organized

If you’re juggling your kids, work, the house and your personal life one area can easily spiral out of control. Notice where you’re not showing up the way you want to be and find a system that works for you.

Everything can be “managed” with the right tools and mindset in place. Hire help or ask for help when you need it.

Be aware of your mindset

Your thoughts become your feelings, your feelings become your words and your words become your actions. Be aware of what comes out of your mouth.

Instead of complaining to a friend or listening to the opinions of others; tune into yourself. What is it that you really want to create in life? Once you figure it out, go after it!

Have faith in your abilities

Your life won’t look like anyone else’s. Have gratitude for what you have in your life and find a way to keep making it better. Be confident in who you are and your abilities. Confidence and faith will help you achieve a well-balanced quality life designed just for you. Your life should be a direct expression of what matters most to you.

Having it all today means getting everything you want out of life. So forget about the expectations of motherhood and the pressure to have a career. How do you want to define it?

You can have it all you’ll just have it differently.
